Ian Evatt watched his troops win their sixth successive game at Boundary Park on Tuesday night and insisted Bolton Wanderers have yet to hit top gear.

The 2-0 victory against Oldham Athletic lengthened Wanderers’ winning streak to match the previous record set by the club in September 2000.

The domineering display, which also saw Eoin Doyle net his 13th strike of the campaign, sent Wanderers to sixth in the Sky Bet League Two table ahead of Saturday’s trip to another of the division’s in form sides, Bradford City.

But despite this magnificent run of form, the Wanderers boss believes his players are not yet playing at their optimum.

“We want more, we are hungry for more,” he said after assessing the victory and performance at Oldham.

“It was a clinical performance. It’s an excellent three points because they are a decent team with some good attacking players.

“We wanted to be in this position but there is a long way to go. 14 games and things can turn quickly.

“We will keep putting in the hard yards but the pleasing thing for me is that I feel like we have got another gear, another level.

“This team is only five or six weeks old, this was all put together in January and there is still loads more improvement to come.”
